Barrow-in-Furness Clandestine Cake Club

‘Simply Delicious’ – 18th April 2013

The first meeting of the Barrow-in-Furness Clandestine Cake Club was held in the Cellar Lounge of The Custom House.

The private room downstairs from the main restaurant area was a fantastic place to hold the cake club. It had been set up perfectly with a long table to display the cakes, pots of tea and coffee and plenty of plates, serviettes and cutlery.  All the members who attended that evening were very impressed with the facilities and would definitely use it again for a private function.

The theme for our first meeting was ‘Simply Delicious’ and that sums up the cakes that were brought along.  There was a delicious array of cakes.

10 bakers came along each bringing their own guests.  As well as my cake I took along a few of my favourite recipe books, including ‘The Clandestine Cake Club’ book to look through as we talked about baking.

As we ate cake and drank tea we talked about our baking successes and failures, our favourite recipes and the one we would try next time. There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere so time seemed to pass quickly and after two hours we all left looking forward to the next event.

The next event is planned for Wednesday 15th May and we are all excited because it is a Yorkshire Tea sponsored event.

If you fancy joining us visit and become a member of the Barrow-in-Furness group.

We look forward to meeting you.
